Imagine if new drugs and treatments for cancer, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and epilepsy could be developed 10 times faster? Imagine if the stem cells developed for medical use were not at risk to human error, with between 14 - 60% of batches needing to be thrown out? To help address these issues, we are developing a new sensor, using the latest optical and electrical technologies, that monitors tissue-cultured cells non-invasively, non-destructively, continuously and in real-time in all three dimensions. These sensors will be used to monitor the health and general characteristics of cells grown ex vivo, and will enable researchers and companies to develop new treatments for and understanding of many medical conditions, much more quickly and cost effectively.
