Dr. Luis Acevedo

Founder and CTO

Dr. Luis Acevedo is a visionary leader in optoelectronics, photonics, medical devices and diagnostics, Dr. Acevedo spearheads research and development initiatives focused on leveraging stem cell data and monitoring and patient care during clinical trials.
During his PhD at Heriot-Watt University (HWU), Dr. Acevedo led groundbreaking research in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh’s Integrated Micro and Nano Systems institute. Under the guidance of Prof. Marc Desmulliez, he designed and developed a novel optical encoder, which became a significant contribution to precision measurement technology. This work resulted in a patent and multiple influential publications in optical metrology.
As a leading expert in his field, Dr. Acevedo’s current focus is on utilizing several types of stem cells data to predict and monitor cell in clinical trial patients. He has worked extensively on developing real-time monitoring platforms that provide pharmaceutical companies with actionable insights, optimizing both drug efficacy and patient safety during trials. His approach combines advanced data mapping, patient-centric monitoring, and AI-powered analytics to revolutionize how clinical trials for stem cells treatments are conducted.
In addition to his role at Quantum Medical Diagnostics Dr. Acevedo is deeply involved in global research efforts. He has served as a member of the UKRI-EPSRC Peer Review College and has contributed as a reviewer for prestigious organizations like Optica, IEEE, and SPIE in fields such as photonics, bio-photonics, and sensors. His expertise in these areas, along with his extensive experience in optoelectronics packaging and optical engineering, has made him a sought-after voice in the innovation of medical technologies.
Dr. Acevedo holds a Master’s in Embedded Systems and a Strategic Project Management Diploma from Heriot-Watt University, as well as a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Computing Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University. His academic and professional achievements reflect his commitment to advancing technology in both research and practical applications, bridging the gap between innovation and real-world healthcare solutions.

Through his leadership at Quantum Medical Diagnostics, Dr. Acevedo continues to push the boundaries of stem cell research, ensuring that patients receive cutting-edge care, while pharmaceutical companies gain deeper, more actionable insights into the efficacy of stem cell treatments in clinical trials.
